About Me

I’m a professional historian, outdoor guide, and freelance writer, who loves summiting an alpine peak as much as diving into a library’s hidden archives. I’ve been publishing my research on irregular warfare for a few years now, drawing from decades of personal and professional experience in the mountains to understand what makes mountain warfare unique—and what decides a successful mountain operation. When I’m not writing about history I’m writing about hiking, climbing, sailing, and river rafting, and when I’m not writing at all I’m out in the wilderness somewhere (but with a notebook still close to hand).
